Fish Load of Fun for Under the Sea Baby Shower
A baby shower is a happy occasion to welcome a new baby. Like all parties, planning a baby shower starts in setting the basic stage by choosing a central theme. However, if you’re not sure whether the baby is a girl or boy, a marine life baby shower promising an ocean of fun is just the perfect theme to welcome the arrival of mum’s little guppy.
The key to help make everyone feel like they’re swimming under the sea is to stick to the refreshing tropical colours of the ocean. With cute little water creatures (stuff toys, mobiles, stick-on images, etc.) gracing the venue, this kind of baby shower is an ingenious and fun way to welcome the baby.
An Invitation to Swim Under the Sea
Send out invites that set the mood for the baby shower. Go unconventional by crafting invitations in the shape of sea animals like octopus, whale, or shark. Sea creatures can also be printed, cut and pasted on ocean-inspired card stock with wavy edges. Add glitter for that wet look effect, and then attach a piece of fishing net or plastic mesh to deliver the underwater statement.
The text on the invitations can further introduce the baby shower theme. Invite guests to an adventurous baby shower with particulars that specify the sailing date, port or reef, name of captain, and SOS number for RSVP. While you’re at it, don’t forget to craft the Thank You cards that match the invitations.
Think Blue and Green
No other colours but blue and green can come near in creating a real underwater setting. Welcome the guests with an all-blue balloon arch to make them feel they’re stepping into the wavy ocean. Lead them right into the reef where cardboard cut-outs of happy sea creatures, corals, and shells are waiting. A fish-shaped string of lights can certainly add more ripple to the bubbles blown by a machine hidden behind the nautical decorations.
Cover the buffet table with blue or green tablecloth then drape it with fish netting. Scatter shells and scallops around glass fishbowls filled with colorful swimming fishes. Coordinate the tableware by using blue plates and cups. Get fancy by using green napkins tied with twine and a tiny seashell.
Serve Something Fishy
Guests will have a delightful sea experience as they plunge into the different ocean-inspired dishes at the table. Concoct a blue tropical punch and float fish-shaped ice cubes of assorted colours for refreshment.
Submarine sandwiches with chunky tuna are just perfect with shrimp, pasta and crab salad. Kids and adults can have as many octopus hot dogs as they want along with cheese cubes and sweet treats in dolphin, sea lion, or penguin shapes. All these are to be served in fish-shaped bowls or platters to achieve a truly under the sea baby shower theme. The colourful cupcakes can be topped with sea creatures and arranged in layers.
When the marine life baby shower is over, send the guests home with special homemade seashell necklaces. Attach the Thank You card to the trinket so guests can feel that personal touch as they leave the “reef under the sea” while sounds of dolphins and whales float in the background.
